Choir will start in September 2010 for interested 4th and 5th graders. When I create a schedule, I will send home permission slips.
My name is Ms. Sharp and I am the music teacher at Laredo. Each student at our school gets to come to music every 4 days. Below are the Colorado music standards we cover:
Standard #1: Students sing or play on instruments a vaired repertoire of music, alone or with others.
Standard #2: Students will read and notate music.
Standard #3: Students will create music.
Standard #4: Students will listen to, analyze, evaluate, and describe music.
Standard #5: Students will relate music to various historical and cultural traditions.
It is my goal to create lessons that teach the music standards and help the students express themselves. We do a lot of singing, dancing, and playing instruments. We have a lot of fun! It is my hope that many students will choose to play an instrument or sing in choir when they reach middle school. I give them the tools they need to be ready.
I do offer choir for interested 4th and 5th graders. I will post the 2010 schedule soon.
