Welcome back to school, Lion community!

Already, this year is opening with so much promise and celebration as we eagerly await our students’ arrival on August 7th for 1-5 graders and August 14th for our preschoolers and Kindergarteners. If I haven’t had the chance to meet and get to know you, I am Jennie Todd and I have been proudly serving as the principal at Laredo for the past three years. As I begin my fourth year, I want to invite you to learn about and engage in a key initiative we have going on this year.

Many of you have heard me speak in the past about being deeply committed to increasing our partnership with the parents and guardians of our community. This year, we need your help more than ever as we build our first-ever Laredo Community Action Team (LCAT). This committee is made up of school administration, teachers, parents, and local community and business leaders and is charged with understanding and giving input into the school’s strategic plan and decision making. As a member of this committee, you’ll have opportunities to discuss data, make important decisions about programming at Laredo, and have input into how to spend budgetary dollars for the benefit of your students. LCAT members will have an important voice in the direction of Laredo and our quest to continue on our trajectory of success. If you are interested in being a member of our LCAT, please contact Adriana Abundio, our family liaison, by calling the office or emailing her at [email protected].

We look forward to connecting with you at some of our early family events, including:
Meet and Greet, August 5th from 2:30 - 3:30, where you can meet your child’s teachers and see where to drop them off in the morning (Grades 1-5)
Kindergarten and Preschool Meet and Greet, August 9th from 1:45 - 2:45, where you can meet your child’s teachers, see their new classrooms, and see where to drop them off in the morning
Back to School Night, August 29th from 3:30 - 5:30, where you can see your child’s classroom, talk with the principal, learn about what your child will be learning, and tour the school

Serving you and your students at Laredo is one of the greatest joys of my life. I could fill pages telling you of my love and care for you and your students, but instead it is my sincere hope that you see that in the work that the staff and I do every day. We are honored to be a part of your community and look forward to another exciting year. As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out and be heard - we are here to listen!

Sincerely,

Jennie Todd, Principal

Welcome back Lions!

I am excited to be working with you this year to support student learning. We are a community in this together.

Attendance:

We value seeing our lions each and every day! It's important students are at school every day on and on time to ensure instructional time is maximized. If a student needs to be absent, please call the main office. There will be quarterly prizes for students who meet our attendance goal.

Breakfast:

Students will be provided with breakfast each day in the classroom if they choose.

PRIDE Bucks and School Store:

Lions will continue to earn PRIDE bucks for exemplifying Laredo values this year. Students will have the opportunity to purchase prizes during grade level school store.
